Carboline 5% Challenge – Employee Health & Wellness Initiative

5 Challenge-hq

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12/12/16

There is a huge focus on health and wellness, and studies have shown that a 5% loss in body weight can lower the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes1. These benefits, as well as getting better sleep, all suggest better employee morale and productivity through the workday2. With this in mind, Carboline has decided to initiate the Carboline 5% Challenge. This 5% weight loss challenge is headed up by the executive team and open to all employees.

The goal is to collectively lose 5% of the total body weight of all participants. The official first weigh in was on December 1, 2016, with 228 employees participating and a total weight of 48,847 pounds. All participating employees will weigh in every month so progress can be monitored and people remain accountable. The final weigh in is set for October 31, 2017 with a goal weight of 46,405 pounds. Along with the Carboline 5% Challenge, Carboline is pleased to offer a new program, Real Appeal, a simple, step-by-step online weight loss and healthy living program free to all eligible employees and covered spouses and dependents age 18-25.

Real Appeal is a unique, proven program that helps people lose weight and keep it off. You’ll feel better, look great and get the things you really want in life —extra energy, confidence, better sleep, less stress —the good stuff that comes with weight loss. Employees can join Real Appeal at healthy168.realappeal.com using a smartphone, tablet or personal computer.

“The Carboline 5% Challenge is a great way to improve the overall health and wellness of our employees, in addition, it encourages teamwork and some friendly competition,” said Chris Tiernay, President and COO of Carboline.
